| "This location was once one of the largest mental hospitals in the country. Eloise was orignally opened in 1839 as the Wayne County Poorhouse to house the mentally ill. Around the 1950`s it is reported that patients were treated with insulin and electro-shock therapy for examples. There were also many reportings of patient beatings as well as patients being housed in overcrowed, unsanitary condtions. The majority of it has now been torn down or made into of office buildings. The few buildings that do remain on the property of the old Asylum are the D building now known as the Kay Beard building, also the fire house, the power plant and the bakery are all still there. The ghosts of many of the tormented patients walk the halls of this asylum. Voices are heard by the workers and teenagers who go to this location for a thrill. Many picture of paranormal things have been captured at this location. Lights are turned on and off. Growls and moans are heard near the playground built for the use of the office workers` kids. The cemetery that is located on Henry Buff Road is siad to actually be more haunted then the actual building itself. The cemetery is home to over 7000 former residents of Eloise.
You can find more general information and even video footage and a map of the grounds at http://www.talesofeloise.com"
